What height should modern wall lights be installed at?

If you’re using your modern wall lights as general ambient lighting within the room, you should install them in the upper third of the wall, just slightly above eye level. This will ensure the room is properly illuminated but prevent the light from dazzling you.

If you intend to use them as task lights, such as by the sofa or above your bedside tables, install them so they’re just slightly above eye level when you’re sitting down. You don’t want them positioned too high as they won’t provide the level of illumination you need, but not too close either as this could cause glare.
